...in which Maya knows how to open and shut things (toys, yes, but more specifically cabinets and drawers). She also knows how to put things inside other things. Watching her fill up bucky the wonder horse (a classic 80's toy which was mine when I was little, saved and restored by the great grandparents) is so funny! Of course, there has already been the occasional pinched finger and there was a narrow escape in which maya prevailed against a heavy jar of tomato sauce from the cabinet - so yes, more child safety locks have been ordered from amazon. But this new stage is rewarding to see.
Along with it has come curiosity about doors and of course what big brother is doing behind the shower curtain....

Easter
Well, Maya won't remember much about this, her first Easter. But we will! She was gorgeous and happy in her pretty pink dress and cute white hat, and her brother was thrilled with what the Easter bunny brought (a new movie, lots of candy, a new basket, and some other fun toys, including bubbles).
Alex, Daddy and I talked a lot about the "true" meaning of Easter this year. I really felt that he was ready, and Lord knows he was interested. We found a few different "kids" versions of the story, including the one in his "Bible Adventures!" bible, which, by the way, I'm pretty sure was written *for* him (it's his level, his language, his capability of understanding, the list goes on). He gets it - he REALLY gets it - and he wants to get more - he asks to read his Bible every night. He is on fire - it is a blessing and an inspiration! Today I was upset with him because he snuck his Easter basket upstairs and snuck a bunch of jelly beans (who knows how many). When caught (it didn't take long), I commandeered his basket and put it on a high shelf to be used and eaten under adult supervision. He wasn't that upset by the consequence, and it was eating at me - why wasn't he sad, or more upset? Doesn't he realize that what he did was wrong? When I questioned him about it sometime later (his inability to "let things go" is genetic, I suppose), I realized that he didn't protest because he agreed with the punishment and knew that what he did was wrong. He only really gets 'upset' if he thinks he's being given a consequence unfairly. He also said, "I prayed to God about it and asked Him to help me stop being sneaky" - and well - I couldn't argue with that at ALL.
But, I digress. We spent Easter in Glen Rock and had a blast. Not an Easter will pass where I don't remember the Easters spent in Connecticut with Grandmama and Granddaddy - and, of course, the bunny ice cream cake. But we did have fun in Glen Rock!

Playground fun!
Today Alex has yet another ear infection - the third one in a month!!! Luckily, not much keeps this kid down. Since it is a beautiful day, we headed off to the park. Maya had a ton of fun going Down the slide with her big brother!! She also had so much fun going in the swing like a big girl.
